The new improved MCCR field tests
Yesterday I spent one hour in a swimming pool testing the new creation made by me and Niklas Andersson. This was dive 52. It is a fully fledge Mixed Gas MCCR with an CMF option, if you want it. It has only passive electronics for monitoring the O2 content (PO2) and it does not have a PIC processor or any software that controls the unit. If there is no software there can not be any software buggs, right? The electronics include a LCD display and a LED lamp that indicates Red (bad) or Green (ok) according to the preset values that the diver can choose. No audible alarm is includeed, since it drives me nuts on the surface and it is hard to hear under water. The diver has to monitor the displays to get information about the O2 content in the loop.

My dive buddy, Petter, helped me document the trials on video. It will soon be published on these pages (Nov 26th).

The new harness is working out fine. I am using a Dive Rite Deluxe harness wich is adjustble. The reason for this is that I want to be able to let other people test the rig, and since I am perfectly built (5.6!) ;=) the harness might appear a bit snug to other divers who are not as fortunate as I am. Thats why I have added an adjustble function to my harnes. In all others cases I would advocate a standard harness.

The new frame for the bottles and the canister worked like a charm. The unit has never been as stable, well balanced or as hot as it is today. You will soon know what I mean when I release the pictures and the video on Nov. the 26th.

The new hose routing worked perfectly, no more dangling hoses, no more hoses that were pinched, no more hoses that were to long or to short, in other words, it was perfect!

The whole dive went well, and all the problems that I have had before with hoses, balance, flexibility, and leaks were all gone! The baby has grown up!

I will probably find new things to improve soon, but for now I am very satisfied and happy. It has been two years of my life that have been very intresting, frustrating, happy, sad, etc. I will for now enjoy this feeling of satisfaction for a day or so, beacause I know myself, and I will soon start to improve things again! ;=)
